Obituary of Nancy Winona Noftell
NOFTELL, Nancy Winona (Donovan) August 8, 1950- November 7, 2011 It is with the utmost sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved Nancy on November 7, 2011. Life-partner of the late Dr. James Fan. Most loving mother of Andrew (Lisa), Daniel (Sheila), and Rebecca (Fred) Withers, and the father of her children, Robin Noftell. Cherished grandmother to Dustin, Austin, Trey, Justin and Mitchell. Nancy leaves behind her sister Donna (Scott) Moir, and her brother Gary (Christelle) Donovan. Nancy was pre-deceased by her loving parents Winona (Steeves), John Raymond Donovan, and her infant daughter Carrie Lee. Nancy overcame many challenges in her young life. Nancy loved her family first, but her friends were a close second. Many who knew Nancy knew of her love of bingo. Nancy loved fishing with her father. She also loved playing second base for the "honey bees".Nancy was widely known for her wit and humour, always ready with a joke or two. She always remembered April 1st (Playing April Fools Day jokes). Nancy was a volunteer for Simonds Ambulance where she received an award for long standing service. Using that ability, Nancy worked at Exhibition Park Raceway Ambulance for a number of years, as well as Canada Trust. Nancy was proud to have attended school in Toronto, where she received her GED with honours. Nancy loved all of her extended families, and all of her special nieces and nephews. The memories we all have of Nancy will be remembered forever in our hearts. We know Nancy is in a better place and probably playing cribbage with her father or checking the weather for the ski report. Those of us who are left behind will always smile every time we say her name. Nancy touched the lives of anyone and everyone she came in contact with, leaving a lasting memory forever. Nancy met life’s challenges with dignity and courage. She loved her home at Taylor Lake, always waiting for spring when the ‘trouties’ would be hungry. Nancy’s love of picking berries goes back to her younger days in Anthony’s Cove, that carried on at Taylor Lake, evolving into growing the biggest zucchinis around. Nancy, heaven will be blessed to have you. Farewell on your next journey. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 4-8pm. The funeral service will be held from the Garnett Settlement Christian Church on Thursday, November 10 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
