Obituary of Jessie Gertrude Nason
NASON, Jessie Gertrude: Please note change of time of the service Passed away at home on November 14, 2011. Born March 2, 1924 at Fredericton Junction, NB, she was the youngest child of S. Gertrude (McKinney) and Alfred L. Nason. Attending schools in Hoyt, Welsford, Fredericton Junction and Saint John Vocational, she graduated in June 1943. She entered the Royal Canadian Air Force, Women’s Division in 1943. She was discharged after hostilities ended in September, 1945. Jessie worked in interior decorating for Manchester Robinson Allision, Saint John, Morgan’s in Montreal, and joined the staff of the Provincial Hospital (Centrecare) on June 4th, 1949, working in all programs of mental illness. She then retired in September 1985. She was a member of Centenary Queen’s Square United Church, Royal Canadian Air Force Association 250 Wing, Saint John since 1948, past president of Fundy Branch #68 Royal Canadian Legion, Saint John since 1961, and also a member of Volunteer Services in Saint John. Jessie is survived by two nieces, four nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as many cousins. She was pre-deceased by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 1:00 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Gladstone Cemetery, Fredericton Junction. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a "Tribute to a Veteran" service on Friday at 7:00 pm. For those who wish, remembrances to the Community Food Basket, the Ridgewood Comfort Fund, Centenary Queen’s Square Care Centre, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
