Obituary of John Wentworth Swan

With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of John W. Swan, loving husband of C. Lynn (Barnaby) Swan, announces his peaceful passing, which occurred on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Pugwash, NS on November 20, 1951, he was the son of the late John and Patricia (Ash) Swan. John will be remembered as a brilliant engineer, with a kind, generous heart. He was well-loved and respected by the many friends and colleagues he met during his journey. In his quiet faith, he found great fulfillment in life, enjoying fishing, motorcycles, and above all, time with his family. In addition to his wife, Lynn Swan, of 43 years, John will be missed by his sons, Dr. Jake Swan (Chrissy) and Dr. Daniel Swan (Erin); his three cherished grandchildren, Alice, Jack and Elijah; a brother, Peter Swan (Patti); his cousin, Sally Keller; as well as many friends and extended family. John’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Doctors Harb, Reiman, Archer and Whelan; the staff of the Moncton and Saint John Oncology units; the Internal Medicine team - especially Dr. Stephen Robinson; Dr Patrick Maloney; Dr. Jeff Marr; and the staff of the palliative care unit and emergency department at the SJRH for their care and compassion. John is resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2-6 pm. A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm from RiverCross Church, (61 Forbes Drive). Interment will take place at Palmerston Cemetery, Pugwash Nova Scotia. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to RiverCross Church, the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, SPCA-Animal Rescue, or a charity of the donor’s Choice.
