Obituary of Allan Raymond Whitaker
Surrounded by his family, the death of Allan Whitaker, husband of the late Doris (Harrison) Whitaker occurred on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was born on January 31, 1934 at Saint John to the late George and Mary (White) Whitaker. Allan worked at Saint John Shipbuilding for over 40 years, until his retirement. He spent his retirement years in Gagetown, where he worked tirelessly on his woodcrafts. Allan was a devoted husband and father; his family kept him very busy. He is survived by his sons: Bruce (Heather) of Hampton and Gary (Jennifer) of Hampton; daughters: Patricia Gilmore (Ken) of Edmonton, AB and Christina Lackey (Todd) of Nauwigewauk; sisters: Mable Gates, Lucy Barry and Gertrude Lubawski; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his three dogs: Patches, Teddy and Biscuit. He was predeceased by his wife; parents; brothers: Alfred, Art, Bert, Bernie and Roy; sisters: Grace and Ellenand granddaughter, Kylee. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Gagetown in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
