Obituary of Mary Katherine Hatchette
The death of Kay Hatchette, wife of the late Gerald D. Hatchette occurred on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Rocmaura Nursing Home. She was born on June 5, 1920 in Saint John to the late Leo and Agnes (Love) McCarthy. Kay worked for Irving Oil Limited and the Telegraph Journal for many years until her retirement. She was a life long member of St. Peter’s Church, CWL and belonged to the Cathedral Seniors Club as well as a member of the Best Years Fellowship at the Wesleyan Church, Boars Head Road. Kay is survived by her sister, Rose Hatchette (Richard); brother, Arthur McCarthy; Saint John, NB, sister-in-law, Shirley Stegmayer, Nepean, ON and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Leonard; her nephew, Paul and sister-in-law, Rita. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Rocmaura Nursing Home or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
