Obituary of Janis Marlaine Branscombe

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Janis Marlaine (Hopey) Branscombe announces her passing, which occurred on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a lengthy stay. Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Fernie (Moore) Hopey. Janis will be lovingly missed by her husband of 45 years, Wade Branscombe. She will also be missed by her aunts Myrtle MacDonald, Margaret Milner (Wayne), and Patricia (Moore) Robertson; uncle Weldon Moore (Brenda); great aunt Lillian Horsman; sisters-in-law Grace Branscombe and Gail Dupuis (Normand) as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and god-children. Aside from her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Terrance Hopey; brothers-in-law Reginald Branscombe and Eldon Smith. Janis graduated from NBCC, then worked in accounting at a credit union and finished her career at Canada Post as Finance Administrator. Janis loved children and played an important role in the lives of many. Her family and church were important to her and she was an active member of St. Thomas Church in Black River, serving as parish treasurer and on WA, as well as Sunday school in previous years. She loved spending time at the camp in St. Martins, both summer and winter, and doing outdoor activities like snowmobiling with the love of her life, Wade. She had fond memories of their car trip across Canada as well as shopping, especially her annual Black Friday trips to the United States. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424). Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM & 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held from the Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 12:00 PM. An Interment will take place at St. Thomas Cemetery. Donations in Janis’ memory may be made to the St. Thomas Anglican Church, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
