Obituary of Mark Douglas Miller
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Miller, husband of Sheila (Hansen) Miller, which occurred at his home on Friday, September 16, 2011. He was born on December 16, 1964 in West Saint John to the late Lee and Marion (Clark) Miller. Besides his wife, Mark is survived by his son Ben and daughter Abby; brother Paul (Cathy) Miller; sisters, Judith Miller, Linda Miller and Nancy (Gary) Cairns; five nieces (Tera, Nicole, Sarah, Molly and Lilly); six nephews (Clark, Chris, Donald, Matthew, Sam, and James) and godson Christian, as well as several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws, Stewart and Marie Hansen, to whom he was very close. Mark began his career in sales working for Peter Tobias at Ben’s Clothing and Shoes Ltd. He left Ben’s after 17 years to open his own clothing store, Robert Mark’s Clothing with long-time friend Bobby Ramsay. For the past ten years he was employed with Saint John Toyota as Sales Manager. Mark’s happiest times were spent with his family and friends. Mark played hockey in the City Gents’ league for many years, was a faithful fan of the Montreal Canadians, and tirelessly supported his son’s hockey career. He enjoyed watching the strength of his daughter on the rugby field. He found great happiness on the golf course. Mark was particularly fond of what he called "the nectar of the gods" brewed right here in Saint John. Our family would like to say thank you for the tremendous support we`ve received from extended family, friends, and the staff of Saint John Toyota, where Mark had made many lasting and valued friendships. A special thanks to the Extramural program and Nurse Christine McKinnon as well as the staff of the Oncology Department at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Glen View United Church on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 1 PM with Rev. Kathleen Zwicker officiating. For those who wish, remembrances to the Extramural Program or PRO Kids would be appreciated by the family.
