Obituary of Brian Noonan Gorman
Brian Noonan Gorman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 at his home in George Town, Grand Cayman Island, (formerly of Saint John, NB) with his wife Jill at his side, surrounded by friends and with Buddy Holly playing on the radio. Brian was born in Saint John, N.B. on December 5th, 1942, son of the late Gerry and Bernice (Noonan) Gorman. Brian worked most of his life as a computer system manager in the pulp and paper industry in Nackawic, N.B., and Miramichi, N.B. He was passionate about cars and was an avid sports enthusiast, playing hockey, rugby and baseball in his younger years as well as becoming an accomplished golfer more recently. Brian lived life to the fullest having acquired a pilot’s license, a motorcycle and a love for scuba diving and snorkeling in his retirement. Most of all Brian loved being with his family. He was a very proud father and an adoring grandfather. His kind, generous and empathetic spirit enriched all of the lives that he touched, be it family, friends, co-workers or acquaintances. And, could he ever cook a great Chinese food dinner. Brian will be dearly missed by his loving wife Jill Grinstead, daughters Tracy Gorman (Bob Webber) and Kori Gorman (Paul Hume), grandson Zachary Gocool, step daughter Jennifer Hovey Chafe (Curtis), step son Chris Hovey (Doralee) and step grandchildren Evan, Cameron, Rebecca and Landon. He is also survived by his sister Eileen Delaney, and brothers G. Patrick Gorman (Dorothy), John Gorman (Nancy) and Raymond Gorman (Shirley) all of Saint John along with his Mother-in-Law Doreen Grinstead, sister-in-law Jane Grinstead (Joseph) and brother-in-law David Grinstead (Vicki). He was affectionately known as Uncle Buck by his dear nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his sister Bernice (Alderman) Gorman. Brian, simply put, was a great man and will be missed by all. Sincere and heart-felt thanks for all of the support, help and kindness we have received from family and friends at this time, and always. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s honour may be made to Cayman Hospice Care, Box 10614, Grand Cayman KY1-1006, Cayman Islands (donations can also be made through Brenan’s Funeral Home and will be forwarded to the hospice in Cayman Islands) or your local hospice.
