Obituary of Brian Michael Cochrane
Brian "Michael" Cochrane of Saint John, husband of Carol Marie Macaulay, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on December 4, 1957, he was the son of Margaret (Wilson) Cochrane and the late Frederick Cochrane. Mike worked as a longshoreman for the Port of Saint John all of his working life, and was a member of the International Longshoreman’s Association Local 273. In his spare time, Mike liked to go lobster fishing, and enjoyed watching NASCAR and listening to country music, especially George Jones and Conway Twitty; but most of all, Mike enjoyed his four grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. In addition to Carol and to his mother Margaret of Saint John, Mike is survived by his children, Stephanie Macaulay (Andrew Vautour) of Bains Corner, Steven Cochrane of Saint John, and Jessica Cochrane of Saint John; his four precious grandchildren, Danielle, Rylee, Kayden, and Leland; brothers Charles "Bo" Wilson (Pat) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Douglas "Tiny" Cochrane, Bobby Cochrane, and Dennis Cochrane, all of Saint John; sisters Brenda Cochrane of Saint John and Sheila Cochrane of Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his father; a brother, Terry Cochrane; and a sister-in-law, Krista Moore. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Paradise Row Funeral Home Chapel. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
