Obituary of James Otho Collings
James Otho Collings Jr. of Saint John, husband of Gloria (Keating Linton) Collings, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Geary, NB, he was the son of the late James and Opal (Allen) Collings. Jim drove truck most of his life, and worked for Superior Precast and the Miller Group. He loved the outdoors, especially going for walks and long country drives. Jim also enjoyed wood working and square dancing with the Ties and Frills Square Dancing Club. He was a good provider and a very easy person to get along with, who loved his family very much and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by sons Michael Collings of Gagetown and Kenneth Collings (Carol) of Quispamsis; a daughter, Ann-Marie Collings of Saint John; his four step-daughters, Tina Enman (Dennis) of Saint John, Sherry Carroll (Ken) of Milkish Creek, Wendy Johnston (Fred) of Erb’s Cove, and Debbie McLeod (William) of Grand Bay; ten grandchildren; a foster grandson; four great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Allison Inch of Grand Bay; seven other in-laws and their spouses; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his sister, Guila Inch. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, November 14, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 12:00 Noon from Brenan’s Paradise Row Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
