Born in Clair, NB, she was a daughter of the late Arsene Lavasseur and Sophie Lizotte. Mabel is survived by three sons: Dr. Clarence (Barbara) of Ingersoll, ON, Claude (Brenda) of Mineville, NS, Cleo (Karen) of Grand Bay-Westfield; son-in-law, Marcel Bossé of Campbellton, NB; twelve grandchildren: Cynthia, Daniel, Jaymi, Jeremy, Jenner, Justin, Jennifer, Jonathan, and Kelly Cormier; Marc André, Nathalie and Patrick Bossé; three great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Leyah, and Ava; one sister, Muriel Calhoun of Ottawa, ON. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Onile Cormier in 1975; one daughter, Claire Bossé in 2010; and sister, Isabelle Cyr, October 1998. In 1944, her parents moved to Grand Falls where she worked for a few years, before making Saint John her home. Her first employment was with the Riveria Restaurant, and it is while there that she met and eventually married her husband Onile Cormier. They were married in the Cathedral in 1953. Her family worshipped in Holy Trinity Church, where she was very much involved with the CWL as past president, Parish Council, and had memberships in St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and the Rocmaura Auxiliary. After her husband was killed in 1975, she went to work at Sears Canada, where she worked for 18 years until retirement. She traveled extensively, visiting Australia, New Zealand, all over Europe, the United States, and all of Canada. After her retirement she passed her time by volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Catholic Book Store, and Saint John Regional Hospital. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday February 15 and 16, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
