Obituary of Gloria Jean Trivett
Gloria Jean Trivett (Teed) passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Saint John, NB after a brief illness. Born in Saint John on September 24, 1930, Gloria was a loving wife and mother. As a youth, Glowie was very involved in sports and camping, and for several years she was a councilor at YMCA Camp Glenburn. She entered the University of Kings College in Halifax, NS, after graduating from Kings Edgehill in Windsor, NS. In 1950, she went on to study interior design in New York City. She married Rev. Donald Trivett on September 30, 1952. After raising six children, she pursued a very successful career in real estate while living in Halifax. Her life long interests were art and music, especially water colour paintings. In recent years she took up the brush again and produced some spectacular images which will be cherished by all who are lucky enough to own them. As a clergy wife, she led Girl Guides, Junior Auxiliaries and Junior Choirs as well as Sunday Schools. Her musical interest also led her to serve as a volunteer for the Nova Scotia Symphony and the Scotia Festival of Music. Her interest in youth led her to volunteer as a docent at the Nova Scotia Museum. "Glo" was known by her family and many others as the best cook in the world, a wonderful hostess, and possessed an amazing flare for organizing dinner parties and special events. She was also an avid gardener. Gloria was predeceased by her parents, John F. H. Teed and Muriel C. (Wetmore) Teed; brothers George Teed and Eric Teed; sisters Hazel Hazen, Beth Young, and Mary Gillis; and son-in-law Ron Stratford. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Rev. Canon Donald F. L. Trivett; her six children, Jean Stratford of Halifax, NS, Anne Harris (Gary) of New Minas, NS, John Trivett (Carolyn) of Quispamsis, Katy Jacobs (Bruce) of Winnipeg, MB, Richard Trivett of Charlottetown, PEI, and Daniel Trivett of Halifax, NS; ten grandchildren, Andrew and Alec Stratford, Jennifer Harris, William, Matthew, and Sarah Trivett, Sam and Rachel Jacobs, and Olivia and Lily Trivett; a great grandson, Jevon Harris; and a brother, Hugh Teed of Toronto, ON. Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, 4 Church Avenue, Rothesay, NB, on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 3:00 – 4:30 PM and 6:30 – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. Paul’s Church on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place beside her parents in All Saint’s Cemetery, Clifton Royal. For those who wish, remembrances to All Saint’s Anglican Church, Clifton Royal, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay, Bobby’s Hope House Hospice, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
