Obituary of Marie Anne Blanchard
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marie Anne (Smith) Blanchard of Saint John, NB, wife of John Blanchard of 57 years, which occurred on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bathurst, NB, on March 22, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Downing and Theresa (Pitre) Smith. Marie was employed with Green’s Catering for about 20 years. She was a member of St. Joachim’s Church; she enjoyed gardening, reading and sewing. Besides her husband, John, Marie is survived by one son, Allan Blanchard (Angela) of Rothesay; three daughters, Delcia Blanchard, Judy Blanchard and Lesa McLaren (Darren) all of Saint John; one brother, Alfie Smith (Yvonne) of Bathurst; three sisters, Marjorie Chamberlain (Clifford) of Bathurst, Elvina Mullin (Bev) of Saint John, and Patsy Smith of Quebec; five grandchildren, Jessica, Jack, Robert, Michael Blanchard and Adam McLaren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by four brothers, Arnold, Harvey, Ronald and Forrest. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from St. Joachim’s Church at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit, Saint John Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
