Obituary of Edna Phyllis Morrison

Edna Phyllis Morrison of Saint John, wife of the late Shirley Hilton Morrison, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 04, 2012 at The Turnbull Home. Born in Salisbury, New Brunswick on May 19, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Clara (Lester) Campbell. After graduating from Acadia University in 1933 (Home Economics), Edna spent several years as a dietitian at the Saint John General Hospital. She then taught Home Economics at Prince Charles School and Saint John High School. While at Saint John High School, Edna was in charge of the school cafeteria. She was a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association, and Edna’s quiet nature made her popular with all who met her; she will be missed very much. Edna is survived by her four children, Shirley Hamner of Vancouver, Anne Wood (Earle) of Rothesay, Roderick Morrison (Patricia) of Hampton, and William Morrison (Magda) of Vancouver; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Edna was predeceased by a son-in-law, John Hamner; and two brothers, Air Marshall Hugh Campbell and Harold Campbell. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday, April 13, 2012 from 1-3 PM, immediately followed by the funeral service in Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Mount Eagle Cemetery, North River, NB at a later date.
