Obituary of James Arthur Dixon
On July 15, 2013 James Dixon joined the love of his life Mabel, wife of 63 years who passed away May 9, 2010. Jim was born February 11, 1925. He was the only child of Albert and Lucy Dixon. Jim was a loving and devoted father to David (Ann Marie), Carol (John) and Andrew (Barbara). He was a proud grandfather to Krystal (Matthew), Sarah, Keith (Tiffany), Kyle (Tiffany), Brittany, and Garrett, also a wonderful great grandfather to Chase, Claire and Jocelyn. Jim and Mabel were dedicated members of St Mary & St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in Forest Hills. He was a retired Senior Manager of Saint John Shipbuilding for almost 50 years, retiring in 1990. Jim enjoyed many hours playing cards with cousins, family and friends. He spent summers at the family cottage on Belleisle Bay since the early 70’s, a cottage that he built from start to finish, mostly by himself, one piece at a time. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Bobby’s Hospice who gave Jim a peaceful departure. Visitation at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 18, 2013 from St Mary & St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, 646 Westmorland Road, Saint John. The Funeral Service will be followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place in the Church of Ascension Cemetery, Lower Norton. As an alternative to flowers, donations to St Mary & St Bartholomew’s Church or Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated.
