Obituary of Harold F. Kierstead
Harold F. Kierstead of Saint John, passed away Monday September 2, 2013 at Ridgewood Veterans Care Center. Born in Saint John on February 21, 1919, the son of the late George and Mary (Creary) Kierstead. Harold served in the Navy during WWII. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A beloved and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grand father. Strong and fair in his beliefs of right and wrong, a mentor to those who sought his advice. Dad was an avid golfer, enjoyed bridge and his fishing trips to Renous. He is survived by a daughter Susan Inkster (Tom) of Fredericton, a son H. Raymond Kierstead (Sandra) of Sussex Corner, grandsons Christopher Gallan, Fredericton, Timothy Gallan (Shari) and their daughter Samantha of Montreal, step grand children Michael Daigle, Barb Snyder, Jenny Green of Sussex and Denise Daigle of Riverview and their families, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Doris and his siblings Mary Rooney, Ethel Mullaly, Genevieve Wright, John "Jack", Walter "Casey" and Fred. The family extends a heartfelt Thank you to the staff of Liberty Lane, Ridgewood Veterans Wing for the compassion and excellent care extended to Dad. Although there will be no visiting, relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Harold’s life which will be held on Monday, September 09, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Ann’s Church, Simpson Drive, Glen Falls. For those who wish, remembrances to the Ridgewood Veterans’ Wing or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family, in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
