Obituary of Harold Carl Kemp

It is with profound sadness, mixed with fond remembrances of a long and fruitful life, the family of Harold Kemp announce his passing at Ridgewood Veteran’s Hospital on December 30, 2018. Harold joined the Army at age 17 to serve his country during WWII. After his service he started his 35-year career with CN, starting in the yards and ending in management until his retirement in 1980. He worked briefly for the Federal Government’s department of Energy Mines and Resources as an auditor as well as teaching accounting courses at NBCC, Moncton. After his work career ended he found his true calling "Urban Farmer" as he transformed his small backyard in the west end of Moncton into his own workshop of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Anyone who visited got the grand tour and stories of each and every seed planted with details that were sure to fascinate! Not to mention the basket you would leave with full of the best tomatoes you would ever eat. He was the eldest of six sons, one Charles (JJ) who survives him. He was predeceased by brothers Billy, Carl, John and James. He is also predeceased by his wife and soulmate, Frances Gertrude (Murphy) Kemp, and survived by her children, Brad Palmer and Nancy (Brian) Daigle as well as his beloved grandchildren Christopher, Sean and Laura Daigle. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the dedicated health care professionals at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Hospital and in particular Harold’s care givers on Liberty Lane. Your kindness, love and compassion for Harold over the last two years were outstanding and very much appreciated by the family. He loved each and every one of you. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424). By Harold’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family service will be held at the grave site. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold’s memory may be made to the Romero house. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
