Obituary of Leo John Olsen
The death of Leo Olsen, husband of the late Pauline (Amero) Olsen occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 13, 1923 in Saint John to the late Andrew and Florence (MacDonald) Olsen. A veteran of the Canadian Army, Leo served overseas during World War II. He also worked as a letter carrier for Canada Post, retiring after 25 years. Leo was an avid sports fan, especially baseball cheering for the Red Sox and Blue Jays. He also enjoyed reading poetry and listening to music. Leo was a member of the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. He is survived by his two daughters: Sandra Olsen and Shirley Olsen both of Saint John; sister-in-law, Evelyn Amero of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline; daughter, Donna and brothers: Harry, Bill, Andy, Freddie, Louis and 2 infant brothers. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 12 noon. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice or the NB Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
