Obituary of Stanley Louis Janes

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Stanley Louis Janes announces his passing on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Born on January 15, 1926 in Saint John, NB he was a son of the late George Pyke and Evelyn Maude (Pilgrim) Janes. Stanley was a veteran of the Second World War (1943-1946) serving # 23 Military Band, Utopia, NB (CITC). He retired from F. W. Woolworth’s as Food Manager where he worked from 1952 to 1983. To us, our dad was the best trombone player in the city and it broke his heart when he had to stop playing at the age of 80. When one would call his telephone and he was not home, they were greeted with the trombone sound being played. He was very proud of his accomplishments with the trombone and we loved hearing it played at each of our birthdays. He is survived by his children, Linda Nauss (Pat), Douglas (Ella), Carson (Mary) Donna Nason (Duane), Kathy Urquhart (John), Wendy Lynch (Kevin); David, Jimmy and Larry; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and our dear friend and dad’s companion, Karen Cooper and her daughter, Kristina. Stanley is also survived by his brothers, Carson and Clarence; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Annie May (Bryson) Janes, son, Stanley K., grandson, Stan, granddaughter, Jacqueline; siblings, Ronald, George, Dick, Hal, Bell, Win, Sue, Florence, Ethel, Dot and Audrey. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
