Obituary of Hilda Rachel Bond
Bond, Hilda Rachel Passed away peacefully in her 95th year on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Chesley C. Bond. Born in Saint John on June 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Sadie (Crouse) Smith. Hilda was a staunch and faithful member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 70 years. Hilda is survived by her daughter, Gloria Bond of ON; sister Borden Craddock of ON; brothers, Kenneth (Colleen) of BC and Ronald of ON; grandchildren, Gail (Steve) Simpson of ON, Wendy (Jeff) Russel of NB, Belinda (Carl) Sloetjes of ON, Tanya (Paul) Wilhelm of ON, Wayne (Velma) Burke of NS, Herman Burke of NB, Chesley "Bucky" (Kelly) Bond of NB, John (Bernice) Bond of NB and Vincent Bond of NB; great-grandchildren, Michael, Katherine, Craig, Nicole, Morgan, Lauren, Kyle, Rachel, Tyrel, Anthony, Daniel, Emily, Brittany, Sarah, Natalie, Paige, Adam, Amanda, Ashley, Alisha, Johnathan, Samantha, Tyler and Jared; and great-great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gabriella, Nolan, Nicholas, Sophia, Cayden, and Caleb; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Chesley Bond and Edward Bond; sisters, Julia Eardley, Helen McCaw, Vivian Forth, Miriam Coleman, Daisy Hills, Ida Martin, Sadie McDonald, Lois Walsh, and Florence Smith in infancy; brothers, Basil, Ralph, Stephen, Harold, Byron and David; as well as great-grandson, Bradley Sloetjes. Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2020 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John, on Friday, October 11, 2013, at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A special note of appreciation to the MacKays for the exceptional care extended to Hilda for the last few years of her life. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Watch Tower Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. If sending flowers, bouquets only please (no lilies).
