Obituary of Dorothy Juliette Moore
Dorothy Juliette Moore of Saint John, wife of the late Edward J. Moore, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Kennebec Manor. Born in Saint John on September 22, 1915, she was a daughter of the late James and Ellen (Mahoney) Donovan. Prior to her marriage, Dot worked at Sears and Red Rose Tea. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish, and a 60 year member of the Catholic Women’s League. Dot also volunteered with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, where she was the chairperson of the In Memoriam campaign. Dot spent many happy years summering in Chapel Grove. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Mary Maloney of Montreal, QC; nieces and nephews Michael Maloney (Millie), Margaret Jackson (Gary), and Evelyn Jenkins (wife of Dorothy’s nephew, the late William Jenkins); and several grand nieces and nephews, including Patrick Jenkins who was very special to Dorothy. In addition to her husband and to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by sisters Margaret Jenkins and Ena Donovan; a brother, James Donovan; and by nephews Raymond and William Jenkins. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, January 3, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Peter’s Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
