Obituary of Stephen Rivers Cronk
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stephen Rivers Cronk on Tuesday, the 24th of April, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, following a brief but courageous battle with Cancer. Stephen was the loving husband of Judith Leanne (Scaplen) Cronk of Saint John; where they resided for many years in love and happiness. Born in Aroostook, NB on the 16th of August, 1947, he was a son of Bessie Adelaide (McQuade) Cronk and the late Ivan Rivers Cronk {1993}. Stephen was a graduate of Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON where he worked for several years in his younger years. Upon his return, he was employed by Rocca Group in Property Management and Brentwood Condominiums. Steve had worked in that capacity in the city of Saint John for over 30 years with various firms including: Royal Bank, Canada Trust, and the Mercantile Centre. Most recently he was employed by Gilbert, McGloan, Gillis. Steve was a former member of the Planning Advisory Committee of the City of Saint John. Over his many years in business, Steve was well liked and respected by his friends and peers. Stephen was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Besides Judy his wife, soulmate and the love of his life, he leaves to mourn his mother; children: Gregory (Cathy), and Carmen (Ron) both of Saint John; step-children: Heather Johnston (Glenn), Shelley Penney (Jim), Scott Shrive (Stephanie), and Kriss Shrive (Jennifer); grandchildren: Bradley, Ashley and Anthony, Khrystyne, Michael, Marcus, Nicole, Mark, Justin, Alyssa, Julia, Elizabeth, Sammy, Nathaniel, Trystan; great-grandson, Austin; brothers: Douglas (Michel), Ervan Watts (Joanne), James (Martine), Warren (Jeanne); sisters: Doreen Roach (Wayne), Linda Hoyt (Kendall), and Caroline Baird (Tom); brother-in-law, Graeme Scaplen (Carmela) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Steve was predeceased by his father {1993} and brother, Charles {2008}. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at a later date.
