Obituary of Joan Ann LeGassie
The family of Joan Ann LeGassie are saddened by her passing which occurred on January 2, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on July 19, 1935 to the late Beulah (Hayward) and Herbert Magee in West Saint John, above the barber pole.
Joan was a long-time resident of the South End. She attended Saint James Church for many years. Joan served on different committees for the South End as well as the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed her daily walks uptown to the ScotiaBank, public library, and to visit friends. She always had a giving spirit and loved to make others laugh.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family Susan Colwell (John) of Saint John, Bob LeGassie (Ada) of Quispamsis, grandchildren Melissa Wyles (Nigel), Patrick Colwell (Jackie), and Erin LeGassie; as well as her great grandchildren Scarlett, Norah, and Evelyn.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband Alden LeGassie and her brother John (Jackie) Magee.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).There will be visitation on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2 PM – 4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 12 PM in the Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date.
