Obituary of Lillian Ruth Galbraith
Lillian Ruth Galbraith of Saint John passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Kings Way Care Centre, in the presence of her loving family. Lil was born in Toronto on August 6, 1930, a daughter of the late Rev. Cyril and Vera Mabel (Brandon) Troyer. She was a very hard worker who not only drove school bus in Saint John for more than 25 years, but worked evenings, weekends, and summers at the Falls Restaurant until her much deserved retirement in 1994. Lil enjoyed playing bingo, and taking day trips and drives in the country; however her greatest talent was her ability to create a culinary feast in what seemed minutes; her apple pies and homemade gravy were an unforgettable treat for her family. Lil is survived by her children, Linda (Kelly) Hurst (Bruce) of Rothesay, and Scott Galbraith of Toronto. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren David "DK" Kelly (Dominique Leger) of Saint John, Jen Kelly-Barnett (Matt) of Quispamsis, and Bruce’s daughter Julia Hurst (Joel Calhoun) of Quispamsis. Lil is also survived by her special sister, Pat (Rev. Fred Hubert) of Thunder Bay, ON; several nieces and nephews; and her little furry canine friend, Riley. In addition to her parents, Lil was predeceased by her longtime companion, Tom Woods. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Kings Way Care Centre for the exceptional care that Lil received while she was a resident there. In keeping with Lil’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be observed at this time. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances to Kings Way Care Centre would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
