It's been 11 years but I came across a post on Facebook today talking about being kind to all critters, even the worms. And it reminded me of Kalon. I lived next door at 1 Stephen park, and went to high-school with kalon. One day I was in my yard, and I saw kalon coming home from school, doing a strange hop skip jump on the sidewalk. When he got closer I asked him "what are you doing?" And he explained that because it was raining, the earthworms were on the pavement. He didn't want to step on them and hurt them by accident. So he was hopping over them. That stuck with me my whole life. Since then I move earthworms off the pavement when I can, and I make sure I don't step on them either.
