Obituary of Maxwell Harry Walker
It is with great sadness that the family of Max Walker announces his unexpected, but peaceful passing on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at his home in Musquash, NB. Max was born on October 20, 1923, one of four children of Harry and Hazel (Flower) Walker. Max was a decorated veteran of the Second World War and Korean War, and enjoyed a successful career in the Canadian Forces until his retirement in 1968, and a second career with Gulf Operators and J.D Irving Equipment. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and greatly enjoyed afternoons spent with good friends. He was devoted to his family, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Simone (Goguen), brothers Lawrence (Shirley) and Donald (Annie), children Mark (Bev), Shelley Foster (John), Laurie (Chris Beyea), Kim Long (Weldon), Patricia Day (David), Christopher, Vicky (Ray Conley), fifteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Max was pre-deceased by a sister, Shirley (Murray) Carleton. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 pm, and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a "Tribute to a Veteran" service on Sunday at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 10:00 am from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
