Obituary of Frank Alexander Hicks
Frank Alexander Hicks of Saint John, husband of the late Hazel Violet (Verner) Hicks, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Rocmaura Nursing Home, in his 104th year. Born in Saint John on June 3, 1908, he was a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Douglas) Hicks. Frank began his working career as a farm hand, and then worked at McAvity’s until he started for the City of Saint John Works Department from where he retired. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed fishing and driving, always getting a new car every two years. Frank is survived by his daughter, Shirley Smith (Mel) of Saint John; his granddaughter, Sharon Smith of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of his immediate family, Frank was predeceased by sisters Margaret, Annie, Hazel, and Florence. The family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home for the care given Frank while he was a resident there. In keeping with Frank’s wishes, the funeral service will be held privately. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer Society or Rocmaura Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
