Obituary of Everett B. Ferguson
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Everett Benjamin "Skip" Ferguson, which occurred on December 7th, 2012 in the Garden Suite of the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in 1932 in Campbellton, NB, he was the son of the late Ward Beechard Ferguson and Janet Evelyn (Clark) Ferguson. He is survived by his loving wife, Barb, of fifty-six years, and his three children; Barb Anderson of Gravenhurst, ON, Jim (Susan) Ferguson of Dartmouth, NS, and Mike (Elvie) Ferguson of Vancouver, BC. He is also survived by his sister Fern of Princeton, BC, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Skip served twenty-six years in the Canadian Forces, serving in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, and he also spent thirteen years with the City of Saint John, working as the Superintendent of Sanitation and Maintenance. He was a member of the Hampton Golf and Country Club, the Saint John Seniors Bowling League, Branch 64 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Service Corps Association, and he volunteered for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Skip was well loved and respected in the community, and cherished by his family. In addition to his parents, Skip was pre-deceased his brothers, Jim, Art, and Lou. The family would like to thank Carrie St. Pierre, Dad’s caregiver at Loch Lomond Villa for the love and compassion she has shown our father and husband during his stay. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm, and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a "Tribute to a Veteran" Service on Tuesday at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 12:00 Noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will take place in Old Cedar Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
