Obituary of Burton E. Oldfield
The death of Burton Oldfield, husband of the late Helen (Dick) Oldfield, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in his 100 year. He was born in Saint John on May 26, 1913 to the late Waldo and Seneath (Perry) Oldfield. Burton worked for Rankins and later Lanes Bakery; he did the "River Route" for many years. He was an avid baseball/softball fan if he wasn’t playing he was watching the Blue Jays on TV or coaching. He is survived by his daughters: Miriam Kennedy (John) of Quispamsis and Brenda Goodwin (Winston) of Grand Bay-Westfield; granddaughter, Jennifer Kennedy; great-grandson, Isaiah; brother, Victor (Doreen); sisters: Evelyn Curran (Robert) and Lorna Wilson (Bruce) and several nieces and nephews. Burton was predeceased by his wife; parents; brothers: Raymond, Waldo and Norman "Penny" and sisters: Nina Reinhart; Ella Walker and Audrey Morton. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 12 noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish remembrances to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
