Obituary of Ethel Lillian Alexander
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ethel Lillian Alexander, beloved wife of the late Harvey Alexander, announce her passing on January 8, 2019 at Loch Lomond Villa with her family by her side. Born in Saint John on December 7, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Christina (Stewart) Henderson.
Ethel enjoyed quilting, sewing, dancing and doing crosswords. She was known for her loving and gentle spirit. Above all, she loved being a homemaker, wife and mother and spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Ethel will be lovingly remembered by her children, Courtney Alexander (Sandra) of Ontario, Diane Tonge (Ray) of Quispamsis, Ann Golding (Ken) and Pat McPhee (Larry) both of Hampton; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Grenfell; brother, Stuart and sisters, Jean, Arlene and Frances.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 12:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to Harmony United Church, Alzheimer’s Society or Loch Lomond Villa.
