Obituary of George Bernard McMillan
** Please note service details have changed and are now private.
It is with great sadness that the family of George McMillan of Saint John, cherished husband of Susan Gibson, announces his passing which occurred on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 13, 1951 in Saint John, he was the son of the late George and Thelma (Dunphy) McMillan.
During his working career, George was a loyal employee of Labatt Breweries where he was employed as a Power Engineer and very active with his local Union. In his younger years, he enjoyed baseball, judo, was a proud volunteer with the Chicken Soup Club and also enjoyed gardening. Most of all George adored his family and always treasured the times spent with those he loved.
Besides his wife, Susan, George will also be lovingly remembered by his children, Christopher (Raye-Lynn) of Fredericton, George (Cherie) of Quispamsis, Adam of Saint John and Jennifer Robinson (Corey) of Saint John; brothers, John (Maureen) of Halifax, Gordon (Cheryl) of Saint John; sisters, Dawn Marie Durley (Bruce) of Saint John and Crystal Koven (Mark) of Saint John; precious grandchildren, Delaney, Dustin, Kendall, Hannah, Owen, Brooke, Benjamin and Lyla; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Geoffrey; brothers, Bruce and Edward "Buck" and sister, Debbie Hayes.
As per George’s wishes, no visitation will be held. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. A private interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
For those wish, remembrances may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
