Obituary of Norma A. Huestis
Huestis, Norma - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Norma (née Wood) Huestis on Friday July 15th, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma (White) Wood. Born on April 26, 1926, Norma recently celebrated her 90th birthday. During Norma’s life she lived primarily in Saint John and in her last years she was under the watchful care of her daughter Myrna. Norma was a honourary member of the most Worshipable of the Ladies' Orange Benevolent Association as well as a member of Dominion # 18 L.O.B.A. of Saint John for which she held various offices. In her younger years she enjoyed gardening, bird watching and writing poetry. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Throughout her life she cared for many people and was always happy to help those in need. Grannie, Nana, Mom or Ma, as she was known to many, had a positive influence on many lives and often indulged the whims and wishes of those in her care – especially her husband and her great grandchildren. Her ability to remember details from the past would rival most and her quick wit and wonderful sense of humour will be missed by all. Norma is survived by her children Myrna Dykeman of Minto, NB; Vincent (Marjorie) of Wasaga Beach, ON and Richard (Cheryl) of New Lowell, ON; son in law Bill Casey of New Lowell ON; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and many more she considered her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Donald Huestis, her daughter Donna; infant son Martin, brother Bill; son in law Bryan and great grandson Alexander. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB with visitation Thursday July 21, 2016 from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday July 22, 2016 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to Romero House or the Alzheimer's Society of NB would be appreciated by the family.
