Obituary of Kenneth M. Langan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted father, loving grandfather, and great-grandfather, Kenneth Langan, on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born December 29, 1926 in Millerton, NB, he was a son of the late George Albert and Bessie Finnis (McEachern) Langan. Ken worked at NBTel for 38 years, retiring as the Human Resources Department Head. He was a member of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement, the K40 Service Club, and was a life member of the Kinsmen Club of Saint John and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was the President-Elect of the Kinsmen Club of Moncton, Chairman of the Kinsmen Minor Hockey in Moncton, Past-President of the Kinsmen Club of Saint John, Past Vice President of Saint John Social Services Council, Chairman of the Saint John Council of Telephone Pioneers of America, Lay Reader at St. Clement’s Anglican Church, Chairman of the Atlantic Provinces for the University and College Placement Association, and he also operated Langan’s Catering for many years. Ken will be missed by his loving children: Douglas Langan (Wendy), Nancy Hines (Andrew), Robert Langan (Cindy), and Beth Hamilton (Mark); step-children: Kevin Jewett (Marion) and Janice Hanson (Bruce); 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Helena C. (Morris) Langan; second wife, Barbara Ann (Jewett) Langan; half-sisters: Annie Brittain, Grace Dunn, and Gladys Jardine; and half-brother, Henry Langan. The family would like to extend their heartfelt "Thank you" of appreciation to everyone at Shannex- Embassy Hall for their support, compassion, and care. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), where a visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from Brenan’s Chapel at 2 pm. Remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
