Obituary of Daniel L. Phillips

After a period of failing health, Daniel (Danny) L. Phillips of Stephenson Tower passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born April 3, 1944, in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Pearl and Lillian (Hannan) Phillips. Danny was employed for 29 years at Red Rose Tea until his retirement. In his younger years he was in a bowling league and for many years took part in the City and District dart leagues with many trophies on his awards shelf. Danny was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Red Wings fan. He could often be seen in the lobby of the Stephenson Tower complex doing his favourite jigsaw puzzles or having a game of cribbage. Danny is survived by his brother, Robert (Marg) Phillips of Florida; sister-in-law, Margaret Phillips of Saint John and several nieces and nephews, Juanita Black and her son, Adam Black, Deborah (Donnie) Ashbridge of Norton, Mike, Kevin and Barry Black, David (Carole) Phillips of Grand Bay-Westfield and John and Brian Phillips of Ottawa. He was predeceased by his sister, Muriel Black and his brother, Al Phillips. As per Danny’s request, there will be no visitation. However, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 12:00 Noon and will be immediately followed by a reception. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, the SPCA or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
