Obituary of Walter Elwood Black

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Walter Black, loving husband of 52 years to Pat (Cole) Black, announces his passing which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Saturday, January 23, 2016. He was born on October 20, 1939 to the late Elwood and Hattie (Munn) Black. Walter was an active man, he played ball, hockey and he bowled, he never sat idle. Along with sports, he enjoyed the outdoors, spending his time making maple syrup, picking fiddleheads, cutting wood; he was in his glory in the wood lot. Above all, he loved the time spent with family, especially with his grandsons. Walter will be missed by his family, his wife Pat, his daughter Lisa (Brian) Allison, his grandsons: Sam and Jacob Allison, his siblings: Gertie (John) Fowler, Zola (Lester) Gullison, Bernice (Garth) Hunter, Hallie Cameron, Esther (Bruce) MacBean, Gordon Black and Terry (Jeanne) Black, along with several nieces, nephews and members of his extended family. Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by his brothers-in-law: Jerry Woodcock and Don Cameron. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Instead, family and friends are invited to the Red Sea Room at the Church of the Resurrection in Grand Bay, on Tuesday, January 26 from 1-3pm, for a time of remembrance and refreshment.
