Barb and family - My personal condolences to all of Don's extended family. And on behalf of Simonds Class of '61, our sympathies to you. We share many memories of Don from high school and still are using the 'Class of' sign and SRHS Crest which he made for our 20th reunion, and subsequent classes have borrowed it - a terrific legacy!

Barb, I learned of Donny's passing last night when my son Tim called to let me know. It leaves me with a heavy heart but I know that you both raised a loving family and valued your time together. Donnie and I were best friends in Sea Cadets, Diving and swimming qulaifications at the YMCA and summer lifeguarding. We even had a one year contract, with the School Board, for cleaning the Bayside Junior High on Jean Street for one year and did the Canada Dry Wherehouse for two years. In 1956 four of us from #9 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Rodney, took the train to Sydney, Cape Breton, for the sea cadet camp. They had a boxing competiton and Donny, or as we called him, Big Boo, knocked his Cape Breton rival right out of the ring. In the sailing competion, as the Leading Seaman, I was the coxswain but Donnie, Charlie Pickard and Eugene Oleary handeled the sails so well that we won the Atlantic Sea Cadet Championship for #9 Rodney RCSCC. |It was a proud moment for all of us. Barb, you were there for part of it. I've missed him for years but I miss him more now that he is gone and that we both missed too many past years. to reunite. In loving memory, Jim

I am very sorry to hear of Donnie's passing. Donnie was a great guy. Had lots of laughs when he worked at the NEW Centracare. Remembering how he set Tim and Maureen up. I tried to tell him but he just laughed. Rest in Peace Donnie.

Dear Boucher Family, Ross and I are very sad to learn of Mr. Boucher's passing. Ross remembers him well from hanging out jamming with Donnie Jr in their much younger days. I remember him fondly from working at the Co-op and he and Barb coming through my cash. It is wonderful that he has so many grandchildren to carry on his legacy. I know how important his family was to him. Barb, Donnie and Margie, Tim, and Lori and families, know we are thinking of you through this difficult time. We hope to attend the memorial service when it is scheduled. xo

I tried to send a message of the decade, between 1952 and 1961 when Donnie and I were best friends and accomplished a lot together. Donnie was not a scholar but a great athlete and artisan. I treasured our times together and the fact that we did not maintain our friendship is blamed on both of us. I think of him often and now deeply regret the fact that I did not make more of an effort to stay in touch with him. May he rest in peace loved by the memory of those who knew and loved him. Jim
