Obituary of Alexina Marie Ramsay
With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Alexina Marie Ramsay, loving wife of the late Lorne W. Ramsay, announces her passing which occurred on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in Caraquet, NB on March 3, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Augustin and Theresa (Lanteigne) Gionet. Alexina was a caring, nurturing woman. Her love of people drew her to begin a career as a nurse’s aide at the Saint John TB hospital. During that time, she met and fell in love with Lorne Ramsay, who was working as an orderly. They were soon married, and had three children. Alexina stayed home to care for her young family for a number of years, until she felt comfortable going back to work as a server in various restaurants in Saint John. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling in several local leagues through the years, and had a special place in her heart for cats and dogs. Alexina will be missed by her children: Ronald Ramsay, Raymond Ramsay (Darlene), Rhonda Ramsay (Michael Yez) and a stepson Wesley Ramsay (Susan); beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Ramsay (Shawn Jones) and their son, Finn Jones; her good friend, Kathy (Hugh); as well as several nieces and nephews, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime. In addition to her parents and her husband, Alexina was predeceased by her twin babies who died in infancy, and her siblings: Dorina, Alexis, Joseph, Laura, Decedee, Anita, Alcide, Lorenzo, Martin and Alice. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa, St. Peter’s Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
