Obituary of George P. Wallace
Wallace, George Patrick "Bunker" – It is with heavy hearts that the family of George "Bunker" Wallace announces his passing, which occurred on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his home, surrounded by those he loved. Born in Saint John on February 1, 1934, he was a son of the late George and Genevieve (Armstrong) Wallace. Bunker was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had worked for 25 years at Ross Ellis in Montreal, followed by many years as a lithographer at McMillan press before his retirement in 1994. In 2015, Bunker was inducted into the Greater Sussex Sports Wall of Fame for the time he played on the Sussex Junior Rangers team and was extremely proud of this accomplishment. He will be missed by his loving wife of 23 years, Shirley (Sherwood) Wallace; daughters, Darlene Cochrane (Reg) and Susan Luckie (Don); grandchildren, Karen, Donald, Michael and Alex; great grandchildren, Sarah and Alex; siblings, Jane, Norma, Carol, Billy, Michael and Debra; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Bunker was predeceased by his first wife, Violet Paris; as well as his siblings, Eugene, Hazel, Ann and Diane. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424. A celebration of Bunker’s life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Hardings Point Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
