Obituary of Violet S. Slann

Violet S. Slann of Saint John passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Loch Lomond Villa, following a period of failing health. Born at Public Landing on March 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late James William and Emma Eliza (Cooper) Slann. Violet worked as a long distance telephone operator, first at the Westfield telephone exchange, and after moving to Saint John in 1957, continued to work for NBTel, from where she retired in 1975. Violet was predeceased by a brother, Bert Slann, and is survived by nieces, Shirley Choquete of Ottawa, ON, Barb Gregan of Sydney, NS and Violet Westwood of Toronto, ON. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Although there will be no funeral service, relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Ocean View Memorial Gardens, 715 Latimore Lake Road, Saint John on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
