Obituary of Robina Mary Mitchell
It is with great sadness, the family of Robina Mary Mitchell of Saint John, wife of the late Douglas Mitchell, announce her passing on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Newcastle, NB on October 25, 1934, she was a daughter of the late George and Agnes (Bell) McLeod. Robina was a teacher in Saint John for several years and was a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association. She faithfully served her church through the years. Robina was a devoted wife, and caring mother and spiritual guide to her children: David Mitchell (Joyce) of Saint John, Heather Hockley (James) of New Minas, NS, Debbie Mitchell of Saint John, Jane Wheaton (Mark) of Bloomfield, NB, and Jennifer Marples (Richard) of Kingston, ON, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Her family will miss her beautiful soprano voice. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, James McLeod, and sister, Thelma Morrison. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held at First Wesleyan Church, Boars Head Road, Saint John on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 12:00 PM. Interment to take place at Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the First Wesleyan Church, Gideons International, or to the Mission Aviation Fellowship.
