Obituary of Patrick William McCluskey
The death of Patrick "Pat" McCluskey of Saint John, beloved husband of Dianne (Cormier) McCluskey occurred on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on September 22, 1937 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary Ellen (Pike) McCluskey. Pat was proud of his 25 years spent serving with the Canadian Armed Forces. Following his retirement from the forces, he went on to work for the Harbour Bridge Commission. Pat also spent several years employed as a Commissioner at various locations throughout the city, including the Provincial Building and Legion Branch #2. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching hockey and baseball and was a Master Official with swimming NS and NB. Pat served as past President of Legion Branch #2 and former Mayor of Shannon Park-Wallis Heights, Dartmouth, NS. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, darts, a good game of cards, curling and loved the bag pipes. He will be sadly missed. In addition to his loving wife and best friend of 57 years, Dianne, Pat is also survived by their children, Pat McCluskey (Marilyn) of Quispamsis, Tina Marr (Ronald) of Saint John, Tanya McCluskey-Kelly (Mark) of Quispamsis and Michael McCluskey (Krista) of Grand Bay-Westfield; sister, Bonnie "Veronica" Harvey of Saint John; precious grandchildren, Stephen, Jennifer, Jeffery, Josh, Brandon, Connor, Carter and Chase; special great-grandson, Cooper; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Mary Ellen Denton and brother, Francis "Bobby" McCluskey. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with a Legion Tribute being held at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 12:10 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NB, a local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (Poppy Fund) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
