Obituary of Delbert Taylor Buckley
It is with appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of Delbert "Del" Buckley, loving husband to Shirley (Snow) Buckley, announces his passing which occurred on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on May 25, 1925, he was the only son of the late Harold and Bella (Taylor) Buckley. Del was a long-time member of Westfield United Church, along with his wife Shirley. He loved spending time with his family, as well as sailing and jogging in his free time. He was a gifted teacher with the Royal Canadian Power Squadron in boating courses, and many people benefited from his knowledge. Before his retirement, Del operated Maritime Poster exchange, and became a kind and familiar person to many people all over Atlantic Canada. In addition to his wife Shirley of 66 years, Del will be missed by his son Loran Buckley (Heather); three nieces; several cousins; and all those whose lives he touched throughout his journey. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as a sister, Joan Henderson. Arrangements are entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A celebration of Delbert’s life will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral on Thursday from 12-2 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to YMCA of Greater Saint John, Joshua Group or a charity of the donor’s choice.
