Obituary of Inez Jeanetta Billingsley-Chase

‘Gorgeous’ Inez Jeanetta Billingsley-Chase (Clayton) For her zest for life… her faith, love, and her humour - we have a smiling and thankful heart. Yet, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of ‘Gorgeous’ Inez Jeanetta Billingsley-Chase (Clayton). On Sunday March 6th, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John, she peacefully passed into the loving arms of Jesus. Gorgeous Inez was born in New Carlisle, Quebec on February 27, 1934. She moved to Saint John in her early childhood where she lived her life to the fullest. Starting with the drama club in high school, Inez loved to be around people. A loving spirit she meant so much to so many and taught us to enjoy each day to the fullest and embrace our unique differences. In her early adult life, she worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia, and still kept in touch with ‘friends from the bank’ until her last days. Inez was always keen to try something new and fun. She played the guitar, the piano, sang in the choir, took ventriloquism, became a clown, became an artist, was an awesome crib player, and loved to travel - to mention a few of her passions. But above all, she loved so many and loved her Lord. She was active member of the Stone Church and a great prayer warrior! Always thankful, always passing blessings along to others, her love and spirit remain an inspiration to us all. Inez was the widow of her best friend, Edgar Chase and daughter of the late John W. and Eunice E. ‘May’ Billingsley. She was survived by so many and her love for them was overflowing: Her son, Chris (Ann) Clayton, daughter Kim Stubbs (Tim Greer), step-sons Gordon (Dici) Chase, Mark (Shelley) Chase, step-daughters Carolyn (Tom) Watters, Diane (Hal) Pawson & Ann Marie (Dave) Dixon, and Cindy (Terry) Hatty, Step-grandchildren Angela, Tommy, David, Sarah, Keith, Trevor, Carter, Mark, Dylan, Carly, and Ben – And her precious step-great-grandchildren – Isabella, Chase, Claire, Georgia and Caleb. - One brother, Max (Terry) Billingsley, many nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her amazing ‘daughters from the heart’ – Ann Clayton, Shelley Chase, Dianna Gagnon and Heather McFarlane. Gorgeous Inez had so many dear friends – for her life long friends Joan Ryan, Jennie Mitchell and Barbara McNiven – thank you for giving her the biggest of smiles with so many fun memories over these last few weeks. Along with being in the loving arms of her Lord Jesus, she has also been reunited with her loving husband and parents, her infant grandson Gregory Stubbs, Step-grandson Jordy MacKay, son-in-law John Stubbs, brothers - Ralph, Robert, Merlin, Jeffrey - and sisters - Bessie, Elva and Peggy. A very special thanks to the entire staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice – you are all truly sent from heaven, being a heaven on earth to so many! Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, March 8 and Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held from Trinity Anglican Church, 115 Charlotte Street, Saint John, NB on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
