Obituary of Troy Anthony Raynes

It is with great sadness that the family of Troy Anthony Raynes of Saint John announce his unexpected passing, which occurred on Friday, February 5, 2016 at his residence at the age of 50. Born on October 28, 1965 in Saint John, he was the son of Mary Jane Raynes (Whipple) of Saint John and the late Harry Eldon Raynes. Troy was an amazing athlete who could play any sport but his true love was found on the soccer field. One of Troy’s shining moments was when he got to play soccer in the 1985 Canada Summer Games for New Brunswick in front of his hometown crowd. Troy was a graduate of Saint John High School and Acadia University. He had lived in Toronto, Halifax and taught English in South Korea until he found his way back to his hometown. Troy was a true friend to everyone he met and held a special place in his heart for all animals. He will be sadly missed. In addition to his mother, Troy is also survived by his brothers, Arnold (Amanda), Mark (Brenda) and Eric (Christine) all of Saint John; sisters, Cindy Griffin (Ken) of Dartmouth, Kelly Hurley (Brian) of Charlottetown and Tammy Parker of Saint John; nephews, Mark, Matthew, Zachary and Aaron; nieces, Jessica, Sarah, Morgan, Erica, Rebecca, Katie, Samantha, Abigail, Madison and Cassidy; several uncles, aunts and cousins. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 2:00 – 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to PRO Kids Saint John would be appreciated by the family.
