Obituary of Margaret Rose Kinney
Surrounded by her family, the death of Margaret Rose (Illman) Kinney occurred at the Dr. Georges–L. Dumont University Hospital on May 19, 2017. She was born in Saint John on January 16, 1948 to the late Lloyd Sr. and Helen (Morehouse) Illman and was the wife of the late Robert Kinney. Marg was a long-time employee of NBTel and Bell Aliant, retiring after 35 years of service. She enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Royal Hair Design, Friends for PALS and Elementary Literacy Inc. (ELF). She loved to shop, travel, chat with family and friends over a good cup of tea and of course, her adventures with Riley, her golden retriever. Forever missed by her son Adam Kinney of Willow Grove; three brothers: Robert and Terry (Marcella) of Saint John and Gary (Ron) of Toronto, ON; two sisters: Dr. Pamela Illman-Coates and Penny of Saint John; brother-in-law Al (Nancy) Kinney of Saint John; two sisters-in-law Cathy (Larry) Sullivan of Fielding, NB and Christa Illman of Quispamsis; two nephews: Sean (Erin) Illman and Bruce (Kelly) Illman; five nieces: Jennifer (Stewart) Mabey, Candace (Michael) Mather, Adele (Brian) Bendle, Jacqueline (Roger) Illman and Brittany (Adam) Manuel; two step-sons: Brian and John Kinney; aunt Marjorie Kaufman of Listowel, ON and several cousins from New Brunswick and Ontario. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers Lloyd and Norman, her in-laws Harry and Myrtle Kinney and special nephew Kenny Coates. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SPCA Animal Rescue or Elementary Literacy Inc. (ELF).
