Obituary of Anne Shirley Lavigne
It is with a heavy heart that the family announces the peaceful passing of my mother at the Loch Lomond Villa on December 24, 2016. Mom was born May 4, 1936 in Saint John. She was the daughter of the late William and Mona Walker. She was the first child of a family of 14. Survived by her son Jeff (Kathy), her only and beloved granddaughter Tiffany Lavigne (Matt), great- grandchildren Ocean and Max. Mom is survived by her sisters Patsy (Charlie) Bryson, Bev (Larry) Saunders, Kathy (Terry) Gautreau, Brenda Sowerby, Mary Jane (Rick) Hosford, brothers Bob (Gail) Walker, Rick (the late Cathy) Walker, Rodney (Dianne) Walker. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her youngest son Mark Henry November 1979 and the love of her life Henry Charles October 1987. She was also predeceased by her sisters Joan (Ted) Forbes, Beatrice Walker, Evelyn (Vital) Blanchard her brothers Ronnie and Raymond Mom and Dad raised us for many happy years on Glengarry Drive where they met many lifelong friends. They later moved to Ontario and settled in Brockville to run a successful Motel on the Thousand Islands. After Dad passed Mom came home to be with family and friends and moved back to Glengarry Drive where comfort and familiarity were welcomed. A few years back Mom decided to start a new chapter and moved to The Loch Lomond Villa and never looked back. She joined Cards, Yoga, shuffle board, Potluck, Bingo to name a few. She made many wonderful new friends and came to love them like family. Mom faced many health challenges throughout the years. Her stubbornness, lust for love and unshakable love for her family allowed her to manage them all for longer than anyone would have dared dream. Mom loved to cook for her family and friends, dance the night away, travel, play any type of cards but most of all spend time with her family especially Tiffany, Ocean and Max they truly lit up her life when they were with her. The past few years Mom has lived at Birch Lane where she was still known until recently by all the staff as the Road Runner her wheelchair never slowed her down. I would like to sincerely thank the staff of Loch Lomond Villa, Birch Lane for the care, love and attention that was given to my mother for the past few years. You truly made it her home. A special thank you to all of her friends you brightened her days by always including her and never giving up on her. Gone in our lives but ever present in our hearts. Mom you will be deeply missed every day but now it is time to rest and be with Dad and Mark. Until we meet again. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel from 11am until 1pm, at which time a funeral service will begin. Interment will take place in Belleville, ON at a later date. Remembrances the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
