Obituary of John Richard Gavin
It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Gavin, loving husband of Diane (Kelly) Gavin, announces his passing which occurred on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on November 8, 1944 and was the only son of the late Alfred and Helen Gavin. John was an employee of the Port of Saint John for 46 years before retiring. He had a love for animals, enjoyed his country music, watching movies and boxing. Above all, he delighted in the time he spent with his family and furry friends. John will be dearly missed by his wife Diane, his stepchildren: Maryanne Brideau, Edward (Barb) Brideau, Shawn Hatt and Douglas (Nancy) Hatt, his grandchildren: Shania, Janessa, Peter and Shawn along with several members of his extended family. John was predeceased by his parents. Arrangements are in the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on August 11, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8. A Memorial Service will be held from the Brenan’s Chapel on August 12 at 10 AM with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
