Obituary of Dorcas Evelyn Powell
The death of Dorcas Evelyn (Poley) Powell occurred on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Bertha (Reynolds) and G. Mont Poley. Dorcas was a 25-year employee of Sears Canada and was a long-time active member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was president of the Lutheran Church Women. Dorcas is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald Glenn, and by her beloved daughter Christine Jackman (Donald Precosky) of Prince George BC, one brother John (Joyce) Poley, of Surrey BC, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dorcas was predeceased by brothers Douglas, Vernon, Norman and Robert and one sister Joan (Pat) Donovan, and by two infant children Glenn and Jane. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4 from 6-8PM and by request, no flowers. A Memorial Service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 12:00 PM with interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Rocmaura Foundation or to a charity of donor’s choice.
