Obituary of John Wilfred Graves
We are saddened to announce the passing of John Wilfred "Willie" Graves of Ocean Westway, Saint John, which occurred on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by his family. Willie was predeceased by his wife, Anne Eleanor (Kiley) Graves; mother, Vera (Birmingham) Graves; father, John Gideon Graves; uncle, Edward Birmingham and aunt, Margaret Birmingham. Willie leaves behind his daughter, Deborah (Graves) Duggan; son-in-law, Peter Duggan; grandchildren, Sarah and Sean Duggan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Mary Lee, Ronald and Jane Nelson, Gerald and Marlene Kiley; as well as many adored nieces and nephews. Willie met the love of his life at the Federal Store and was married on July 18, 1964. He then went to work for Scotiabank on Charlotte Street where he stayed for over 40 years. Everyone who knew Willie adored his kind heart and sharp wit. He worked hard all year long in order to spend his summers at Sebago Lake in Naples, Maine. Later in life, he and Anne went to Walt Disney World, which became their second favourite place to vacation. Willie’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Corey Stephens, Lucie Long and Jessica Kingsley for helping to care for him so that he could stay at home as long as possible. Also, a special thank you to the incredible staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice for providing Willie the care he needed so he could pass with the dignity that he deserved. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 12:10 PM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
