Obituary of Wayne Paul Steele
It is with an appreciation of a life well lived, that the family of Wayne Steele, loving husband to Linda (Bartlett) Steele, announces his passing, which occurred on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born on May 23, 1952, Wayne was a son to Mary (Whelpley) and the late John Steele. Wayne held many jobs in his years, all of which he took great pride in. He was employed as a Roofing Trade Instructor at NBCC for over 20 years, and held a seasonal position with Roof 1 Consultants as a Roof Inspector. Wayne had an insatiable love of books; Stephen King being among his favourites, but it didn’t matter the subject or content. He also had a thirst for knowledge and took advantage of all opportunities to expand that knowledge. Wayne was a big fan of anything Hockey and an even bigger fan of the Montreal Canadians. Above all, he took great pleasure in spending time with his family, and being a Grampy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him Wayne will be remembered by his surviving family, his wife Linda, his son William Steele, daughter Jessica Steele, his son-in-law Matthew Ridgway, his one and only grandchild Stephen Ridgway, his mother Mary Steele, brother Jack (Betty) Steele, Goddaughter and Niece Heather Whittaker and his "other daughter" Nicole Bentley Furlotte, along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27 from 2-4 and 6-8. A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, December 28 at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SJRH-Palliative Care Unit.
